PREPAIRING TO SAIL

PREPARING TO SAIL  ALL OPERATIONS ARE NECESSARY PRIOR TO HOISTING THE SAILS.
YOU DO IT THIS IN THE SHELTER OF THE PORT. THE OBJECTIVE IS TO DO A MINIMUM OF ACTION ON THE WATER ITSELF.

Actions:

  • Remove the sailcover.
  • Loosen the mainsheet and boomvang.
  • Tighten the toppinglift slightly.
  • Remove boom cradle.
  • Pull mainsheet tight in the clamp. (safety!)
  • Attach halyard to the head angle of the mainsail. (note: on the port side of toppinglift)
  • leave only one sail strap with a slip stitch.
  • Top sled already in the mast rail. (only with little crosswind)
  • Remove sail strap jib/ free furling line.

DE-RIGGING  (NIGHT-READY)

De-rigging the boat properly helps ensure that all parts are preserved in good condition for the next sail. It includes all actions required to leave the boat unmanned after sailing and to protect the sails from the elements.
